In 1980, whats known today as Athena was founded. Athena's inventory includes many hand made items from all over the World & U.S. Often called, an "alternative" Gift store, as the store carries many unusual gifts that are not commonly found everywhere else. Many items are hand picked in person. Athena buys from many Fair Trade Suppliers in various countries, and also occasionally imports goods through personal travels or by setting up meetings with traveling importers/representatives.
Athena's focus is to have a variety of items that are symbolic of many cultures. The owners believe that "our store has been educational for people that have an interest in other cultures, music & different spiritual beliefs." Athena carries a large array of Sterling/Gemstone Jewelry, Clothing, Ethnic Percussion, flutes, locally made Pottery & Rocks & Minerals. There are also low priced items such as, oils, incense products, candles & bumper stickers. "We carry affordable ambience for your self or home." Periodically, Athena facilitates in-store workshops which allows the opportunity to learn more and share with others the importance of our merchandise.
